The heart of the Volunteer Lawyers Project is its volunteers:
- The community volunteers who make the Hotline work field calls from people in need of legal
help and connect them with the resources that are available.
- The attorney volunteers who act as Lawyers of the Day work hard to place cases with
attorneys around the state.
- The Pro Bono Attorneys who provide their services free of charge to assist low-income Maine
people with their legal problems have accepted more than 25,000 cases over the years.
- The law students and attorneys on the Helpline work with clients representing
themselves in family law cases.
- The Domestic Violence Pro Bono Panel will give attorneys around the state the opportunity
to help clients with protection from abuse cases, among the most important cases referred
by the VLP.
- The VLP Advisory Committee is composed of volunteer board members who help with the governance
of the Volunteer Lawyers Project.
- Friends of the VLP help the organization in finding financial, community and other resources
to maintain this critical work.
We have created separate areas of our website for each of these groups of volunteers where they can
find resources, information and documents to help with their work. These areas are password protected.
If you are a volunteer and have forgotten your password, please contact Mary Richardson.
