If you want face-to-face help from our Portland Courthouse Assistance Project (CHAP),
go to the Portland District Court on a Thursday afternoon, between 1 and 4 pm. These are only CHAP hours. This
courthouse-based help is only for family law matters, such as divorce and parental rights cases.

VLP receives thousands of phone calls every year and often our phone lines cannot handle the volume.
(All phone numbers reach the same system; it will not help you to get through if you call a different
number.) If you cannot get through on the phone or if you cannot call during the hours we are open,
